An Aerial View

A stylish, modern dream house created by Neo Dezign for a young couple and their 2 children. Dramatic use of lighting gives this house its own special identity.

The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Dodhia is in a high rise in the eastern suburb of Mulund in Mumbai.

The apartment boasts of splendid views from all the rooms. It is on the 34th floor, and presently the tallest structure in the locality. A 4 feet balcony running along the southern side of the flat overlooks the city from Powai on one side to Navi Mumbai on the other.

The clients are a young well travelled couple who desired a stylish, modern, spacious home which looked elegant yet had a bit of that something which would make their home stand out for its dramatic visual impact. They also required a child friendly house with two children in the family aged 4 and 1.

The design team had a complete free run in turning the spaces from this house into a spectacular dream home for the young couple. They started off by rejigging the area and tearing apart walls to recreate spaces as per their requirement. Such that the layout of this apartment has been completely transformed and it does not resemble any of the other flats in that building. The recreation of the space by breaking down the walls and rearranging them has hence facilitated a dining area, a guest bedroom, a bigger kitchen, a dry balcony and a guest bathroom.

A spacious living room greets you as soon as you enter this flat. The living room dimensions being 20ft x 20ft(400sqft ) with a ceiling height of at least 9 feet. Once in the large space the passages on the right and the left become visible almost immediately. The passage on the right leads to the bedrooms, the one on the left leads to the dining area and kitchen.

Special care has been taken to enhance the mood and ambience of the living room with the help of mood lighting embedded in the ceiling. The magical aura of the space extends outwards into the balcony where a water fountain has been created. The soft sounds of the water flowing combined with magnificent views from the balcony of this high rise add to the elegance and charm of the place.

The passage on the right is entered through a glass partition with studded fish door handles created from showpieces sourced from Turkey. This passage leads to the master bedroom and the children’s bedroom. The passageway serves as the family’s memory wall with pictures of the family and other memoirs from their lives neatly stacked up on either side.

The master bedroom has a section set apart as the dressing area. The creation of this area has been planned in such a way that it seems to enhance the open spaces in the bedroom and make way to accommodate the reclining chair.

The children’s bedroom has 2 single beds that can be folded in to facilitate the addition of space for the kids to play. The balcony area adjoining this room has been covered with artificial grass for hassle free maintenance and at the same time it provides the children a green turf to play on. Likewise their bathroom has two separate basins for each of the boys and a tub with a fish theme.
